We are a working farm situated approximately 4 miles from Darlington on the road to Staindrop. We farm Belted Galloway Cattle using traditional farming methods.
Our opening times and all the details which will help you to plan your visit are here.
Our farm lies upon the site of medieval Ulnaby, a scheduled monument. There was an archaeological evaluation and assessment carried out, the finding of which were published by the Time Team in 2008.
As a scheduled monument we are not allowed to use pesticides and many fertilizers meaning the cattle on our farm live longer and mature slower.
Ulnaby Farm Shop
Visit well stocked farm shop selling a wide range of ethically grown and reared meat and products, including our own farm reared Belted Galloway Beef. Reasonably priced and, as we are often told, utterly delicious!
Ulnaby Gift Shop
We stock a diverse coleection of beautiful gifts, greeting cards, wrap and gorgeous kitchen items. Situated in our bustling cafe, our gifts are perfect for that birthday present…or simply to treat yourself!
We have a cafe from which our small team serves delicious, freshly cooked food which is produced using home reared and home baked ingredients.

Our Famous Belted Galloway Cattle
In 2008 an archaelogical evaluation was undertaken by Channel 4’s ‘Time Team’ at the site of Ulnaby Hall.
Their findings revealed that Ulnaby appears to have been occupied from the late 13th or early 14th century and was a two-rowed plan either side of a hollow-way and green. The evidence suggested an adjacent manorial enclosure.
The Time Team episode is available on YouTube and can be watched by clicking on the link here. Please note this is an external link to the YouTube video and it will open in a new tab.
An artists impression of what medieval Ulnaby looked like. Today you can visit our cafe and shop.
Take a moment to enjoy the views from our cafe across the site of deserted Ulnaby whilst treating yourself to a cake, bake or light meal.

Some of our Trip Advisor Reviews
"Well worth a visit. Lovely farm shop with excellent meats etc and not badly priced, small gift shop upstairs with good selection of cards mugs and things. Cafe gets very busy but a lovely place for lunch or a cuppa. Everything is homemade and the scones are delicious. Play area outside for the children and some animals goats, pony and llama to pet."
"Called on 11/4/19 for coffee and scone. Beautiful cranberry and almond scone crispy on outside and lovely and soft inside. Pleasant staff and nice surroundings.."
"Called in for a coffee after being recommended by a friend. Whilst I was there picked up some of the frozen meat (lamb, steaks and mince) and will definitely be going back again. Nicest meat around."
